I can't say enough about Ion and his work, nor recommend him highly enough. I have owned and played my Conn 8D for over 40 years, and finally decided it was time to get a bell conversion (with lacquer removal) and sent it to Ion -- for one, because he makes it so easy to ship with the "Balu-to-go box" (just do it). I have had some minor repair work done in the past, but after that kind of time it is no surprise that Ion discovered a number of other issues that needed addressing -- loss of compression through ill-fitting slides and rotors; severe corrosion of the handguard and leadpipe; dents and bruises, etc. I OK'ed this once-in-a-lifetime overhaul and I could not be happier with the results -- in my view it looks and plays like a dream. I was honestly surprised at the difference -- the horn is notably more resonant and responsive. Throughout, Ion was great, sending texts and videos of the problems and progress, and in constant communication, making me feel like I was his only customer. He even threw in a couple of freebie extras because of the extra cost and time -- although it was totally unnecessary, it showed how much he values each client and their instrument, whether you are a serious amateur, like myself, or professional. Thank you again, Ion -- I will not hesitate to recommend you to anyone considering routine or serious work done on their horn.

This is such a great shop and Ion went out of his way to give me and his other customers the best experience! I had a custom horn of his for a while that I loved, and he did great work on it. It was the best horn I ever played! Unfortunately I needed to sell it, and decided to contact him as it was such a special horn so that it could go to another great customer of his. He was incredibly flexible and great to work with! He took the horn back and did a full restoration job on his own cost just because he wanted to make sure whoever bought the horn would receive it in perfect shape. Ion was great with communication and willing to work with me the whole way, and despite being sad to let the horn go, I am so happy it went to a good home. This is a great shop with top quality instruments, and I highly recommend it!

Ion is the absolute best! He worked on my Alex 103, removing the lacquer, doing extensive dent work and he did a beautiful custom finish on the inside of the bell. What I liked most about Ion was he was almost as excited about my horn as I was - even though it was a lot of work - he had a vision for the whole project. He went above and beyond on my horn and was even able to somehow bring my already very good compression (1.2) in my valves down to 0.1! Pricing was excellent and fair on everything too - my horn now looks and plays brand new (even though its 100 years old)!!! For all the work he did, the turn-around to get it back was not bad at all. I really really recommend his work to anyone with a horn that means a lot to them. I know for sure I'll be back!!!
