Simply put, they are THE BEST of the best! I have a fiddle that has been in my family since just before 1900. It was passed down from my great-great-great-grandfather, and then given to me by my great-grandfather before he passed away in the early 1980's. The last time I recall hearing it played was around 1977 during one of my family's many impromptu living room jam sessions. When I got the fiddle, there was no bridge, the tuning pegs were not functioning, the tailpiece had been fabricated from an old oil can, and the body was separating near the endbutton. Foolishly, and with much sadness, I always thought the fiddle would never be brought back to life. Even though I felt it was truly gone, I was always very protective of it because of the many precious memories I had of it being played.
Fast forward to June of 2018, and I was messaging back and forth with Gary Cox (owner of Texas Music Depot) and I sent him some pictures of the fiddle. Much to my surprise, Gary told me that he could bring it back to life. I was shocked, stunned, and overcome with hope and excitement. I knew I could only trust the repair to Gary. I've known Gary for a few years and have always been in awe of his talent as a guitar player, singer, and entertainer, as well as his knowledge of the sound and production requirements needed for a successful show. In short, HE'S A GENIUS!
I knew the fiddle was in the best hands that it could possibly be in because Gary has such care and respect for the instruments. Gary is a true craftsman when it comes to building or repairing instruments. He cares for the instruments as though they were his very own. Clearly, I'd much rather trust Gary with it than someone who would consider it as "just another repair ticket". Gary knew the story of the fiddle and he wanted to keep it as close to original as he could, and the result was AMAZING!
I wish I could give more than 5 stars to Gary and the folks at Texas Music Depot because they sure deserve it! I drove one and a half hours, each way, to drop off and pickup the fiddle at Texas Music Depot and folks, I'm here to tell you that I'd drive 8 hours, each way, to get an instrument in Gary's hands for repair.
I suppose a review should also address price, so, let's discuss the price. Gary gave me a soft quote, based solely on the pictures I sent him, with the understanding that the price could certainly change once he actually got into the repairs. It is very important to note, here, that on both occasions (original estimate & final bill upon completion of work), I argued with Gary over the price. I argued because I thought the prices were TOO LOW! I asked him to double-check the prices several times because I just could not believe that this precious heirloom could be brought back to life for such an incredible price!
Quality of work was 5-star, price was 5-star, and level of customer service was 5-star as well. Do yourself a huge favor and send your repairs to Gary at Texas Music Depot, and buy your instruments and supplies from Texas Music Depot. I promise you that you will be glad you went to Texas Music Depot! Don't forget to say hi and bye to Felicia while you're there as well! Thank you, Gary, Felicia, and the great staff at Texas Music Depot for taking such great care of me! I'm a customer for life!!

Bought an electric guitar from here. Just getting back into in. Family owned shop. Awesome service. Great deals. Gary is super cool. Great atmosphere. If you're looking to get into music or already play this is definitely a place you should check out. 10/10 would go again.

Gary and Felicia are awesome, honest and fair. I will be a lifetime customer. They have an incredible inventory of new, used and vintage instruments, expert repair and set up service and guitar/bass lessons. I highly recommend you drop by and I'm very hard to impress.

Gary is just getting started so his inventory isn't entirely up to speed yet but the place already has a comfortable, laid back atmosphere. Gary is a wonderfully talented and knowledgeable musician who's ready and willing to go the distance to help and nurture anyone who has an interest in music. Met the owner (Gary Cox) a super nice guy and excellent musician and singer. Then went a on to play on stage with him for Cody Widner had a great time. I am currently booked to play several more shows with him and I'm looking forward to doing many more.

My first encounter with TMD seemed favorable, but this last time has changed my mind. I was looking for some equipment and when tested it didn't appear to be working right. The owner, Gary, said he would get it serviced and everything would be up to par. However, when I went back to pick it up, some of the things he had promised were not done. Then he made a bunch of excuses to cover it up so I only got half of what I was counting on. If someone tells me they are going to do something I expect them to do it, especially if I am giving them my money. Needless to say, Gary has lost my business, because I won't ever go back to Texas Music Depot, neither will I recommend them to any of my musician friends.
