Amazing selections of electric and acoustic guitars here. I came on Saturday and it was pretty good crowd. I particularly enjoyed the 1926 Martin 000-18 there. Almost a century old guitar with unmatched tone.

This place was great. Having only been to Guitar Centers and local used guitar shops. I was blown away by just about everything there. The selection of guitars is amazing. I am guessing they had to have close to 500 guitars on site, maybe more. The folks working there were great. Extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and patient. I really like that they have rooms with amps to try out the guitars rather than everyone playing out in the open. This was especially nice as someone who is newer to playing guitar as guitar stores can be a bit intimidating when you are playing next to someone who sounds like a professional. The store itself is really nice and well organized. The only drawback was a lack of parking, but that's to expected in the city. I drove an hour each way from my house and it was well worth the trip. Having just purchased a great guitar there this weekend, it might be a while before my next purchase, but I plan purchasing from there again when I do.

Always a great experience here. Staff is knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Great selection of guitars, but maybe a little weak on electronics.
That's OK, though, because they're great at what they do.

Also, they do great guitar repairs here, and they're a fantastic resource for keeping your instrument healthy so it lasts a lifetime.

What a beautiful store this place is. Has just about anything and everything you can think of for American music. They have some really cool guitars and electronic equipment. If you need a professional to really show you around and teach you a thing or two, this is the place to go. You can try all sorts of different things and this place is just a joy to go to. Plenty of space and a lot of fun to just explore a bit.

The Chicago Music Exchange is not merely a musical instrument repair shop, its an experience unlike any other. The walls are lined with beautiful guitars hanging everywhere you look, but it's not just about the instruments either. This place is a hidden gem!! The staff are not only very knowledgeable on every piece of equipment and gear in the store, they are also some of THE friendliest people you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting.

We first met Sam, he's originally from Venezuela and lives here in Chicago now. First and foremost, he was very warm and welcoming. We spoke with him a little on Tuesday evening, and when we came back Wednesday, he was genuinely happy and excited to see us back in the store. We hadn't eaten yet, so we asked Sam for some local recommendations and he did not disappoint!! He even shook our hands and wished us safe travels back home when he left for the day.

We next met Peter, a local man who built some of the guitars that are sold there. He helped DJ pick out a guitar strap that was made right here in Chicago!!

Then I met the store's manager, Jonathan. He was very grateful that we had visited his store and also very very warm and friendly.

Our experience here was heightened so much by the staff here!! I hope that anyone who visits Chicago is able to visit the Chicago Music Exchange, even if it's just to meet some really great people!! Can't recommend it enough.
